Much of Hawkinson’s work is eerie and mysterious, but it is also oddly comic and nearly devotional. He presents a body of work that varies immensely in materials ranging from cardboard, rope and wood to fingernails, egg shells, and feathers. Each of Hawkinson’s pieces have an air of laborintensiveness, which he believes is not an embellishment at all, but may be a little bit obsessive due to the scale or the elaborate pieces that are meticulously put together. Tim Hawkinson is a post-modern artist because his art contains no purism and is difficult to categorize. He rethought the way the human body could appear, along with the innovation, wit, and imagination that portrayed in Post-Modern art.
